i am new so be gentle with me. who went to the bone show at the key club in la? well i guess if you went you know it is in la but i digress. i fear this will be a recurring problem with me well, that and my atrocious spelling and punctuation. this will be my only apology on this subject so take it in. anyway, i missed the opening act everyone was so psyched to see with the singer from tool in it but got there in time to see medusa. very cool chick rapper with great grooves and back up singers that shine. a great message for girls and a heartening change of pace from the usual misogynistic trip our brothers seem to drop on a regular basis. don't get me wrong old ice-t and eazy-e are among my guilty pleasures but i am hopping that the four club girls pressed up against the stage will get the point as well as the groove so that they may excel past the expectations of the guys behind me who said "that's what i love about club girls they are so dirty even when they are young." it was an all ages show and i am sure the girls were being picked up by a concerned parent from the valley at midnight and god bless them for that. i grew up in pasadena going to bone shows in back yards and junior proms where the parents of the privileged more so than of the poor ignored the clock and smoked the pot and now wonder why their kids are still at home. how pissed is everyone that i have not yet gotten to the bone portion of the show last night? 1. great show at lest and hour and a half long 2. pray to the junkie maker truly inspirational 3. angelo's daughter "shy girl" and mother a beautiful touchstone for those of us who are growing up together, nice progress, his face beams with light as he serenades his baby in the balcony, nice 4. people faded, a lot of people left 45 minutes into the set and i'm not sure why 5. the sound was lacking a. back up vocals on the part of the keyboardist were flat and in too low of a key b. with out the proper back up the vocals are not able to deliver the same one two punch that made the band impossible to duplicate in intensity c. the new guitarist is not as funky and no one can hold fish's sticks and i miss chris even if he does hit his women, and i never thought i would say that 6. angelo left stage with the parting words that if we wanted an encore we were gonna have to ask for one, and we did as the key club turned on the lights and the crew tore down the stage and security escorted us out. this is the first bone show i have ever been to where there was not an encore. before i go and receive the impending blows for my blasphemous critique of the over all sound a quick story, just before i left for the show i spoke with a long standing friend and told him bone was playing and that of course that is where i would be. he said "it could come down to angelo and a kazoo and you would still be in the front jumping up and down yelling fishbone is red hot because once someone has touched your heart they have your loyalty forever," so don't get me wrong they have changed me, enriched my experience, let me know i was not the only one and in a place i am not always sure i want to be they have given me solace.

i went last nite to the key club, it was great, but there were too many opening bands, i was disappointed to not hear 'UGLY,' but everything they did play was great...i think they wanted to do an encore, but the club had to close so they couldnt...they were gonna do "party"...anyways, great time.....
