Almost 20 years that I saw Fishbone live on stage and some memories are still very present.
First I remember that the US bombed Lybia that morning so when we arrived at the show, the security had been reinforced, I remember the guy in front of me having to open every single zipper in his jacket (he must have had at least 20...) to show he had no weapons.
I discovered Fishbone on a French TV show called "Les Enfants du Rock" in a report which also figured Jane's Addiction in Jamaica and two days later I remember going to a record shop to buy the 3 available records. This means that by the concert I knew all their songs by heart.
First song was a very slow one "Subliminal Fascism" and I remember losing my shoe during that first song and recover it only at the end of the third song.
I only have some flashes form the songs played but I remember a very nice version of One Day with a very charismatic Walt and a fabulous amazing version of Change sung by Chris to finish their set.
That evening, I knew something big entered into my life but I could never imagine that 20 years later they would still be around, stronger and more inspiring than ever. Their music still enlights my days and cheers me up when I'm down.
