This show was on fucking fire! Awesome. My eyeglasses got wiped away in the frenzied manic rock n' roll energy, but it was worth it. Goodbye old friends. Walked out blind as a bat and happy as a lark. Bad Brains also kicked major ass. Orgone was really good too. Hope Fishbone plays here again!
Awesome, awesome show!
I'll get my only two gripes out of the way:
1) They didn't open with Unyielding Conditioning, which IMO is a perfect opening song
2) They didn't play Sunless Saturday, which I guess they've probably taken out of rotation.
OK, on with the real review: I wasn't quite sure what to expect, as they had just played a free show downtown LA that was pretty reserved. That was probably because Angelo's family was there, and it was a Parks & Recreation funded event. But they sure did put it all out there this time around!
Energy was extremely high from the jump, and they let us know early on that this was gonna be a rockin, rockin show. Really big crowd, huge moshpit that I could only handle joining twice. Walt brought a huge amount of energy and street cred to the act, and you can see his influence in the performances since he's been back.
A bonus: Norwood made an announcement that Fish was in attendance, but I couldn't see him. Too many people in the way.
Another bonus: They were preceded by Big Daddy Kane, and followed by Bad Brains who absolutely rocked the joint as well! Though I was too worn out by that time to do any dancing.
