Title:Fishbone / Date Rape / Feb19, 2010 / Atlanta
Author:oshimbo
Description:The Beat, or The English Beat, but really just a new reincarnation of the original with Dave Wakeling leading (also of General Public) played at The Loft in Atlanta, GA on Feb 19, 2010. Fishbone opened for them, as did Outlaw Nation. Outlaw Nation dissed the audience for being "too old" for their liking. What do they expect when the other two bands' last hits were in the 80s? Flashback crowd was still a lot of fun. Fishbone had tons of energy and I sadly didn't record Party At Ground Zero. The English Beat seemed a little stagnant. Except for a few members, the rest seemed like session performers who were bored. I loved that they played both The English Beat and General Public songs. It was Dave's birthday and he seemed to be in great spirits and sounded like his did in the 80s.

GREETINGS FELLOW FISHES...  I was granted the beauty of my fellow Californians once again - FISHBONE !!  I lived in Baltimore for years and saw them several times there and D.C. . Having recently moved to Atlanta I caught the show @ Center Stage here. I must admit - new place, I'm expecting " whatever " - and I got it. The sound system sucked in the place, you couldn't here the vocals unless you stood UP AT THE EDGE OF THE STAGE, (which is where I was) but the music was as it is on record - flawless! The players were getting the crowd into it, and as though it were part of our DNA, we did!! Having the pleasure of talking to MR. Dirty Walt (King of The Dog Freaks) as he was walking into the backstage area, we chattesd for a few before he took the stage with the other rockers. If you can, check them out on the ELECTRIC PURGATORY documentary this month on the Ovation cable channel. Once again, you never go wrong when things are '' STILL STUCK IN YOUR THROAT !! "        p.s. - I hope next time they play Frey'd Fucking Nerve Endings, The Warmth Of Your Breath, Riot,... ok, I'll stop 4 now, so BONE OUT!!!
