Review by HITMAN on Nov 17 2008

Wow. On at 10:50 and off at 12:09. The venue couldn't seem to get the equipment working all night. Endless mic failures, shorted cords and bad keyboard DI's. Several times Angelo was forced to finish songs on McKnight or Dre's mic and even on the Sax mic with no verb! The band was slammin, Angelo had the Theremin out and it was a great show going, but the hall really screwed the pooch on this one. Looks like Cholly is missing from the setlist above, after Let Dem Ho's Fight I think. Behind Closed Doors and Alcoholic were great performances of those songs also. When another mic failed during Sunless Saturday Angelo gave Dre the 'throat-cut' sign, and I knew it was not good. They pulled through a very loose ending section (Rocky seemed lost much of the night, especially here) and walked off. The house lights came up immediately, and even the nearly four minute "Fishbone is Red Hot" chant didn't bring them back. Only Dre and Steward returned to the edge of the stage, shrugging their shoulders and apologizing to the hangers on. The shortest show I can remember except maybe Warped tour 10 or 12 years ago. Of course within a few minutes Angelo and Norwood came out from side stage and did the meet and greet scene, but that's not my thing. I wanted the show! But it just shows how these guys are real and still care about the fans. They tried to make it up with personal time, but I don't think it helped the general disappointment. Lots of grumbling out side afterwards. Hopefully the band remembers all the great shows we've had in PDX and forget this venue. Back to Crystal Ballroom next year I hope!
