Another great show Friday night at the Key Club. But the big news was that Dirty Walt was in the house and actually sang back-up for the second-half of the show. At first I wasn't sure that it was him because he hung back behind the drum riser. But as soon as they played Cholly, I knew it couldn't be anyone but Walt. Nothing against the new guys, but there's just something very satisfying to my ears that Walt brings to these songs.
Dre was MIA, so McKnight very ably pulled triple duty on keys, gits, and trombone. I have to say it was a weird sight when we first walked into the club. The place was jammed to capacity for the openers, Rebelution and B Foundation, a pair of 2nd rate Sublime wannabe reggae bands that I had never heard of. What was especially surprising was that a majority of the crowd sang along to Rebelution's songs. And after they were finished, I would say at least a third of the audience left with them. But that was okay by me. More room for dancing to Fishbone.
