It had been five years since I saw Fishbone back in 2002 and tonight I saw a very different band from back then (five years you say? Gimme me a break I live in Australia and just moved here). Gone was Spacey T and Dirty Walt and in was some new blood with the likes of Rocky George, Dre Gipson and Curtis Storey. And to put it simply this new line-up rocked the house like a mother f@#ker!

Openers the Expendables put on a solid show with its pop reggae infused with Iron Maiden like dueling solos and metal. This Santa Cruz band have played in Seattle before so it had more than few patrons enjoying what they had to offer. These guys are on Slightly Stoopids new label and certainly have big things in front of them. Their performance would have stole the limelight from any other band except for the one coming on next the mighty Fishbone!

Fishbone came on at 10.30 and played for more than 2 hours to a few hundred people loving every second of it. First thing I noticed was how much fun Angelo and Norwood were having - way more than back in 02. What an addition Dre makes sharing vocals, he and Angelo would have stage-dived about 10 times between them. Dre even joined the circle mosh pit for Subliminal Fascism. After the nice jazz intro and DR Maddvibe Bitch, hitting the crowd with Unyielding, Suffering, Party with Saddam and then Alcoholic was amazing. I could not stop grinning like a little school girl.

When some girls made it onto the stage for Cholly the party was most definitely on.

The sound quality was mostly spot on, but it did get a little muddled in the middle before they quickly recovered. Rocky George - what a man!

There was too many highlights to list, as it was easily one of the best shows I have seen in years. SSITY was a solid album for me, but I truly feel this line-up has the potential to produce a real classic Fishbone album on its next go around.

On a side I note I picked up the new Dre Gipson cd and after giving it a couple of listens its a pretty tight cd. Get it if you can. Fishbone needs to hang onto this guy. Check out my myspace page (myspace.com/fishbone850) I will have a vid with photos and footage from the night.

peace, Phil from (Seattle previously Aus)

I was there. My fourth time seeing the gospel spread by Fishbone, and in a way it was awesome that the show was at Studio Seven, as they still allow stage diving. I was there, in a bright yellow shirt, surfing my heart out, as if it would be my last. Fishbone still has the best shows BY...FAR!! Otherwise, Mr. 850 pretty much said it all. Except that the night started out with a bunch of drunk...
