Review by Spudzzz on Jun 09 2006

They did it again - Loud, angry and special. Not sure what they played - sunless saturday, everyday sunshine, ma and pa, subliminal facisism, alchoholic, hide behind dark glasses, played 4 or 5 new songs as well - cant wait for the new album to come out Tiny venue, and sound took a while to sort itself out, but my ears are still rinning so they must have sorted it out.

Review from the Nuttwork's archive

Excellant would be my one word review! I've not seen the new line up before so was looking foward to more horns and i wasn't dissapoited!

The first support act "this is our first UK gig EVER - yeah!!" after every song were from Canada and i didn't think much of them.

Merch stall was maned by a french bloke who didn;t have any FB stock as the FB bloke wasn't about! Eventually got a t-shirt before Wolfunkind (I assume it's pronounced Wolf Unkind?) came on. i decided to stand at the front centre of the stage for them so that I would have a good view for FB although i didn't know them but was well pleased that i did as i was well impressed. The drummer (who was the bloke on the merch stand) just wore white y-front pants, the guitarist looked like a down and out in a suit, the bassist had a glitzy jacket on and the singer was dressed normally but with a cross in tape over his trouser front! Reccomend anyoe on the list checks them out! (for the music not the stage outfits!) they finished with a song which Angelo sang and then Rocky George did an instrumental/jam with them.

Just before they came on i met Steve Foreman off the list and his girlfriend Anna who managed to blag one of the three inflatable dolls that were on stage - who Anna named Bridgette and we had to "shake hands" with! Alas the singer wanted her back, Steve tried to get a free CD for her but failed so she was given back at the end. And i got the three disc Wolfunkind CD and a t-shirt with "Starsky Loves Hutch" on the back (which was one of their songs).

There were problems with angelo's Theramin and eventually the crew got him to come out and sort and he used that to start their set. I didn't get a set list but from what i remember (in no order) they did Sunless Saturday Face Plant Ma & Pa Subliminal Glasses Everyday Sunshine Suffering Forever Moore Alcoholic Date rape

Face Plant was not on the set list but Norwood decided to do it on the spur of the moment i think.

The mix wasn't good from the front but it was still a great gig. Everyone seemed happy although there were a few monitor/cable issues while they were on. Walt was a great characture and was a presence on stage but sound wise i think the current line up is the best since i saw them the first time about 10yrs ago.

top gig! And this is the first time i so enjoyed the support band!
