Well even before the show began it was clingin' to the edge of the abyss! Angelo was not with the band because his father was on his death bed, may he rest in peace. John Steward had told me if Angelo couldn't make it ,the show would end up as a big-ass Fishbone jam. With the last warm-up on stage Angelo is whisked in by an airport shuttle van noticeably carrying the weight of the world upon his shoulders. Angelo lurched on stage recieving embraces from his bandmates. For a dude whos' stage presence is always supercharged and sometimes edgey I've never seen Fishbones' front man this raw! Angelo shared some very painfull details of his fathers' last breaths! I don't want to make this show seem like one big downer because it wasn't. The message or feeling I took away from the show is 'Bad stuff happens, you face it and then dance the demons out'. Angelo launched himself into the performance and was totally unrestrained. While crowd-surfing he was dropped but never lost a beat! This was my first show with the non-Walt/Spacey line-up. The 8 man sound was full and fairly balanced. The keys are a welcome addition but would have liked to hear them more out front. I was very anxious to hear Rocky (Suicidal Tendencies) on guitar for the first time but was dissapointed to find him mixed out. Loved seeing McNutt back with Fishbone! Nice Trombone work! Had never heard 'Hide....' live until that night and was very happy with it! I got kicked outta the venue because of some pit-action by the over-zealous nazi security during 'Beergut' but while arguing with management outside couldn't help but break out-loud laughing hearing the strains of 'Runnin'...'. Overall I'd give the show a 4 outta 5 but I've seen 20+ Fishbone shows. Compared to any other live act this show would rank 6 outta 5! I personally prefer the heavier crunchier more edgey Fishbone but this 8man lineup does have a full classic Fishbone sound if that's what you like and maybe more importantly they seem very happy together. To be fair the venues' sound didn't quite do Fishbone justice. Great crowd that was totally connected and into it! Being unfamiliar with the new tunes; Face plant, Jackass Bribade, Forever Moore... I had a hard time following so I'll leave it to others to review these.

Well, the Tucson show was great. Angelo was there. He said that his father had died and dedicated Karma Tsunami to him. Everything was good: sound, crowd, band etc. There was your classic friendly Fishbone pit. No one trying to hurt anybody. Talked with Tori for a while and he was super nice. He was really interested in posting to this list but doesn't know how. Of course he wanted to remind ever...
