Before going to this show, i could not stop thinking about my 1st fishbone show back in 1993 (only Kendall had left the band by that time...): just incredible. So while on the raod to Strasbourg i was a bit wary about the fishbone performance me and my friends were about to witness. i was pretty sure it would not be as good as my first live fb experience...... Though it was SO IMPORTANT to go to the show and support the ultimate live band!
Now we're two minutes before the curtain opens. I am just very excited, i'm witnessing another fishbone concert. I am just glad that although so many members left and line ups just keep changing all the time Angelo and Norwood kept the faith and just keep on pushin the fish thang.
The energy is still here (angelo nutt!) but the band just does not sound as tight as it used to be in Fishbone's heyday. That being said, what a pleasure it was to dance and sing with my buddies (longtime fishbone soldiers too!) on those good ol' fishbone anthems...so that was defenitely a great night. Thank you Fishbone and thank you ter ? terre....
PS: hope i don't sound too rough about the yesterday/today fishbone comparison....But you cannot get the same vibe from a band of longtime friends like Fishbone used to be (teenagers who just started jamming like we all did some day) as from yet another fishbone line-up. During Strasbourg's concert, Angelo -after the encore- started playing drums before the drummer was back. He seemed to be a bit pissed off about it. Yet Angelo did it another time - after the 2nd encore- and it really felt like they could barely stand each other.....strange and sad feeling to me....Yet i do not really like to make such "he did this he did that" bla bla.....but that's just how i felt....
peace all boub
