Dear diary (or whoever else interested in reading my lame english speech),
Yes, I?m one of the usually silent list members and just witnessed one of the very best gigs I attended for years. Didn?t know the place, l?Amalgame of Yverdon, before but was pretty glad to notice "quiet Switzerland" ?s youth was ready to party on a Monday nite as the venue seemed pretty crowded.
Fun fact, the venue?s website offers a short biography of the band. On this biography, they talk about the original members : Angelo Moore, CHRIS DOWD, Kendall Jones, Walt Kibby, Norwood Fisher, Fish AND CHARLIE DOWN. They noticed a few lines below that Charlie Down left just before the release of Reality and was replaced by John Bigham.
I was almost out of motivation by the end of the afternoon as I was lacking sleep due to a hard weekend ?coz I.. blah blah blah (instert boring drunk dumbass story here). Anyway, made it to the place, and as the supporting act, Nec?t?art - a band I had never heard of before tho they?re from my hometown ? was playing, the more beer flew in my stomach and the more I looked forward to see the bone live again. It was just the 3rd time I got to catch them and the 1st in Switzerland since 1996. Was kinda proud when Wet Daddy came to me, before the begining of the show, to shake my hand as he noticed my good old logo t-shirt.
Fishbone started, as usual, with a poem from Angelo and Walt?s Nuttmeg World. Had never heard this one before as I don?t own To put it bluntly so I didn?t think it was so uptempo. The crowd reacted quickly and started jumping 'round. On went the band with Sunless Saturday and Deep inside and the audience almost never stopped till the end. I hope fellow list member Nico finally got a setlist if anyone wants to know it. By now, I can just seem to remember they played 5 tracks off Temple Bar plus In these last dayz but as a poem only. They pretty well mixed new/older tunes and finished with two encores. The whole band seemed in a very good shape especially Angelo who was hot like fire. Certainly the best Fishbone show I?ve attended so far? I can only look forward to the next which is on Saturday !
Almost deaf, voiceless, bone aching, tired, tired, tired and eventually going to sleep,
Peace out,
P.L.
The Yverdon show was really great. Amalgame is a cool little club set in an old warehouse. I don't know how much people there was, but I think about 300. The opener "Nect'art' was really painfull, some kind of Toto mixed with a late Blondie... Too 80's sound. Then Angelo began with Fishbone soldier poem, they continued with Nuttmeg world, and the show really began when Angelo jumped in the Public...
