Review from the Nuttwork's archive

for the sake of your own sanity, all informations about the happennings of last WE in LA has been classified confidential, besides for the concerts.

all i can say is that the familyhood is not a concept. it's a reality. as i remember repeating over and over during the bbq: it was so right.

hopefully, when the DVD is out, you'll witness how everything r...

Hey all! I have never posted a review of a show before, but since I see the reviews are scarce, I will try to throw in my experience of the weekend. I got in Friday night, after a 5 hour flight, straight from work, so I was already exhausted when I got there. Everyone from the list was hanging out at the Travelodge rooms (that was the central meeting place). Everyone I met was immediately frie...

Man oh man....what a weekend. Like Sarah said, gives us some time to recover a bit and gather our thoughts because a LOT of stuff went on that weekend, from a lot of different perspectives. First and foremost what everybody wants to know: The new material. A lot of us have heard four or more of the new songs on the last tour, but they worked them a little differently for the Temple Bar shows (...

Hey everyone! Just wanna say that the show on Friday nite wuz the BOMB!! The new songz are incredible, each song had my full attention through out the show. They're brilliant! Last Dayz is the shit, heavy groove with da' reggae twist. Skank and go Nuttz, Are u wid it, etc. HOT Damn, This is Fishbone! PFN is a good album, but this is the shit Hollywood wrekordz should have let them do. The show and...

Hey all!! We just got in a couple of hours ago...but man, we miss being in Santa Monica. All the way home all we could talk about was missing our new family. The drive home was just a dazing swirl of laughter and storytelling. For all of you that didn't get to go, I will do my best to recount, to the best of my recollection, any and all happenings.

First, the familyhood. ...

Wow. What a weekend. WOWOWOW! Its difficult to put into words, but I'll try.

First off, thursday: I went with three friends, two of them virgins, all of us from LA. We got there really early for fear of a sell out, which gave us much drinking time; I had guinness, the others had tequila (more on this later). I met Sarah and several other list members, all of them beautif...

I have to admit to a little apprehension when I heard that the show was going to be all new (more or less) music. It's not that I don't dig hearing new songs at shows, it's just that I love the old stuff so much. Plus, hearing the four new songs on this previous tour when they were in Seattle, they weren't completely fishbone tight yet. But I was sold quickly, once the boys started into their set.

The new stuff is fantastic. There are definately some classics. Frey'd Fuckin' Nerve endings was WAY tighter at the show than it was on the road, and it's a perfect punk tune. I had been hanging in the middle of the venue until they started up on this song, at which point I had to join the rest of the travelers in the front rows. Hearing this song done so well was fantastic.

Dance it Down was another song that stuck out in my mind. Another song perfect for the fishbone communal jubilation that occurs at every show.

But the one that really hit me was "And we fly." It is a Fishbone pop song. Catchy as all hell, and almost anthemic. An instant classic along the lines of Everyday Sunshine (not musically similar, but a great singalong). I would wager that this is their best bet for a hit out of the new material.

Seeing Fishbone in their own backyard (the temple bar was a cool venue!), hearing the new music, and meeting some of the email addys on this list made the night for me. I didn't mind having to drive back to Las Vegas at 3 in the morning.

Can't wait for the new album.

Hey all, I think I've recovered enough from my flight back to NYC to make a coherent post. First off, to echo the sentiments of most everyone else, the reunion and the shows were flat out amazing. The chance to meet some of you folks truly was an honor. At one point, Lauren Batiste asked me, "So what was your high point?" To which I replied, "High point? You mean I gotta pick just one?! Hel...

I just got in (Monday, about 10:30pm) and had about 130 notes to read... mostly, everyone summed up the weekend just as I would have. The whole event just exceeded my expectations at every turn. the music, the location, the people the BBQ (Go Derrick!)... We had seals swimming in the ocean in front of the BBQ! Just amazing.

I still wish I had taken a picture when I opened...
