Hey all! I have never posted a review of a show before, but since I see the reviews are scarce, I will try to throw in my experience of the weekend. I got in Friday night, after a 5 hour flight, straight from work, so I was already exhausted when I got there. Everyone from the list was hanging out at the Travelodge rooms (that was the central meeting place). Everyone I met was immediately friendly and pumped up and ready for the second show. I had a lot of fun just chatting to each person to hear their story. We all got along really well, I didn't see any fights, or people rubbing each other the wrong way! It was truly like a reunion,...even though I just met most of the people after a couple of hours it seemed like we all knew each other for years. Maybe because most of us had been to the same shows over the years. (BTW: Jeff Secrest gets my vote for coolest hair.) Anyway, before the show Friday, the band was hanging out at the bar, so I think most of the list members got to meet the band (if they hadn't yet met them before) and there was a lot of picture taking then. I thought the show was fantastic. I agree, it is hard to take a whole set of new songs with nothing old or familiar, but that wasn't the case here. Even though most of the new stuff is much harder (especially harder than Psychotic Friends Nuttwerx), it seemed like the songs had a catch or riff that stuff in your head. I still can't get Primadawnutt out of my mind right now. I think the coolest thing was Angelo asked who came from out of town raise your hands, and of course the whole nuttwork neighborhood had their hands up, and Angelo commented how they were all up front right up in front of the stage doing the most dancing, giving the most support. That was really beautiful. My favorites were Black Box (sorry Denis, but I thought that song rocked) and Get out of the city (title?). For the encore, Angelo read a poem and asked the rest of the band what they were waiting for and then they came back out and did alcoholic. The BBQ on Saturday was really fun. There were endless amounts of food, and I so was happy to be chatting with everyone, I didn't realize I forgot to eat until we were in the car going home. The chef (forgot his name) was funny, he was hardcore bbq-ing, and had endless coolers of meat, even stuff marinating for hours and when the cooking slowed down he would do old dances like the running man and the cabbage patch, too funny. The water was like Russian-polar-bear-club-freezing, but some crazies went swimming anyway (you know who you are). The filmmakers were at the bbq, and there was a lot of picture-taking, which I'm sure will get posted for you all to see in the next couple of weeks. Be kind though, most of us didn't get more than a few hours sleep the whole weekend. Ase was there in her little leopard print bikini, stealing the show. She is such a happy and beautiful baby, and was so happy to be held by anyone who wanted to hold her. She really is a joy, and a reflection of her too-cool mom. The evening ended with a bonfire and everyone dancing around at the beach. (Denis gets the award for the winner of the bbq danceathon...how long were you dancing Denis, 5 - 6 hours straight?!?) It was pretty damn cold after a while and with my thin Florida blood, I had to jet to the car and turn on the heater. We should definitely do this again, with more planning time next year. I think the happiness and friendliness was so high that everyone on the list should experience it. I do see now that it is truly a family! Okay, that's my take, I just got in on a red eye flight and am sitting here at my desk trying to draft a contract and my eyes are tearing up....fatigue, happiness, or just bored with this job? Probably all.

I just got in (Monday, about 10:30pm) and had about 130 notes to read... mostly, everyone summed up the weekend just as I would have. The whole event just exceeded my expectations at every turn. the music, the location, the people the BBQ (Go Derrick!)... We had seals swimming in the ocean in front of the BBQ! Just amazing.
