Review from the Nuttwork's archive

Finally I'm here to say that I caught the free show in Nashville last thursday. Set list: Nuttmeg world shakey ground The suffering In the heat of Anger One Planet People Alcoholic Karma Tsunami Ma and Pa behavior control technician riot servitude

The city sponsored security did their best to ensure that there was no alcohol or slam dancing involved. Fishbone started at about 9pm which was 40 minutes behind schedule. They were aparently opening for They Might Be Giants. The first part of the set seemed to be all down tempo songs which would've been ok if the sound wasn't so horrible. I saw people from my school doing the stage setup. I'm also kinda dissappointed that they're slowing down the Suffering, Servitude, and Shakey Ground. When AKP joined for shakey ground the two 22 year old non- soldiers I brought just turned their backs. I actually had to explain to them that they were family to Fishbone and were just getting 5 "pity" minutes. Although the sound never got good the show became really entertaining half way thru. Angelo kept provoking the slam pit in the funniest ways. Before one of the heavier songs he said something like "This event is called DANCIN' in the district, right? Well this song might just make you want to get really loose and just ya know D A ..N C..E a little bit" it felt like we knew exactly what he meant and the security didn't have a clue. Now this pit was really cool, mostly young kids absoutly no drunk pepole and everyone was happy. Everytime things would get wild the security would show up five minutes later and we'd all just hold still for a minute till they went away. Doing that was a chalenging and fun task. If I would've gotten kicked out it wouldn't have been any fun tho. Finally a man in a Black Flag Tshirt was ejected but it was only because he wouldn't acknowlege the security when they were trying to give him a warning. If he would have just said ok sorry, he could've stayed but instead he yelled "I'm just having a good time," and turned his back. Spacey T's method to playing servidude was pretty interesting during the verses, it is a pretty good idea but I do miss the second guitar part. For those that haven't heard yet, he plays it clean on the verses which sounds just like the CD at the end of the track right before the solos. I don't think Norwood played on the versus, if he did I couldn't hear him. So considering that they've slowed it down too,it is pretty different. After wards (about 10:20) Angelo was just kinda hovering around the sound board no one was talking to him for a change. I asked him to come bar hop with me and my friend Brittany but he said that he wanted to but was kinda spaced out and needed to just stand a while and gather his thoughts. It was hard to leave him there because he was doing nothing and didn't look pissed or anything. So I BSed a little about the recording. I am still confused as to weather the split CD would be seperate from a new album. Cause he said that "we're puttin this one out ourselves". But then I asked him if they were still doin the truckstop and he said "Yeah". He also said that they were gonna include stuff that didn't make the Hollywood album, like "Fuck the producer". On which CD? I don't know. I don't think we can expect ANYTHING soon because he wouldn't even speculate on when we could buy the stuff. So it felt odd to leave him in outerspace in such a shitty towne but I went and did my local shit.
