Review from the Nuttwork's archive

Greetings,

Saw both Wetlands shows. Imo, the second show was the better of the 2, but not by much. Crowd was wilder in the first. Both shows were good, but I've seen the bone better (having seen them something like 30 times or so, I've seen they play some amazing shows, so maybe I'm too picky now ;)).

Was surprised to see the lack of a keyboard on the stage before they started the first night. Have to say though that they sounded good even without it. Those of us that know the songs (and that's probably everyone on this list) will likely notice that the keyboard parts are missing, but despite that the band still has a full sound. Have read others say that the compensation was from textures laid on Norwood's base, but I think Spacey filled some of the space as well with extra bits here and there (have to say I wasn't too thrilled with Spacey when her first joined the band, but since then he seems to have really clicked with the band and is fully with them, first noted in that Amazing Tramps show a couple of years ago (where they played "Black Box" as one of their encores)). So I noticed that the keyboards weren't there, but didn't miss them.

Was wondering what they were going to do for a keyboardist now. Whatever they do will have to wait until the end of the tour I'm sure. Since I'm reading that they knew McKnight might be leaving them (though were surprised to find out when) is there anyone else out there that they had lined up already? And what is the current status of Dowd? Is he at all a possibility (wishful thinking on my part)? I know they didn't get along when he left, and he wrote a rough song that blasted them, the band seemed to laugh the song off and said they liked it (or at least Norwood did, I think). Are they on better terms now? What is he doing now anyway?
