Fishbone recently performed a concert at The Backroom in Austin Texas to a sold-out crowd of 2500 screaming fans. The first track to grace to ears of the hungry attendants was "Sunless", a ska track off the new release. Though the performance was riveting, the newness of the song made for a hesitant crowd response, and just when they were about to shout requests, the band cut into one of their most popular songs "Bonin'" off of their 1989 record, Truth and Soul. The audience erupted, bodies soon started flying up in the air, and a rash of "moshers" and crowd surfers invaded the venue. As the show went on members of the audience became more bold and started to getting on one side of the stage, running across it, then diving into the sea of fans on the other side (myself included). It was quite a sight to behold, and I would recommend any record (because they are all good) be added to your collection and to take advantage of any opportunity to see this band in concert, at any venue. It is hard to believe that these gentlemen are playing with such high intensity such high-energy music and are all in their forties. Not only was the set an hour and a half long, but the band ended up playing two encores, playing a total of twenty tunes without a hitch. So by any means necessary if you get the chance, gather your friends and check this band out, live or at home, happy fishing!

To anyone who cares, John actually was suffering from a mild heat stroke. He had a long sleeve shirt on and it was hot as hell in that place! We gave him some water and he sat the rest of the time out. But John did do a slammin job of a sit in for him.
