What up, people!? I'm new to this list -- just joined yesterday after the Atlanta show. Have to say I almost lost faith in the Bone after Chim Chim, but this show got me fired up again! I immediately went out and bought the new album today and it ROCKS!!

For the folks that missed the Atlanta show, I'll try my hand at a short report...

The show had astonishing energy. They seemed to be back almost to the hyperkinetic state they were in when I saw them in Maryland in 1991, on the Reality tour.

The setlist was something like this: Freddie's Dead Everyday Sunshine Cholly Shakey Ground Where'd You Get Those Pants The Suffering Karma Tsunami Party at Ground Zero

(I could be leaving one or two songs out, but I think that's about right.)

I'm not sure who Joi is, but a young lady joined on vocals for one of the songs. It could have been Dirty Mind that they were playing, but I'm pretty sure it was Pants. (That'll teach me to get the album after the show...!)

The crowd was a good size. I would guess that 15,000 is about right. There were a bunch of dedicated folks up front. Maybe 200 total. I saw a few old Fishbone shirts out in the audience, too. Very cool.

They played for about 50 minutes total. Right before Karma, they said they were going to have to cut it short because the whole festival was running late. They managed to fit in a couple more songs before closing it out, tho. They got a standing ovation from tons of folks -- even those not up front. I'd say they gained a couple new fans. :-)

I know it's incomplete, but I hope this helps the folks who weren't able to make it a bit.

This was an interesting gig. It was the 4th time I'd seen Fishbone and this show was FREE as part of the festival. Other than being free what made this gig stand out was it was the first time I'd seen Fishbone play in front of a primarily black audience. This was mostly an R&B festival. I remember there were a lot of older folks in lawn chairs at front of the stage and suddenly lots of younger...
