I caught Fishbone last night:
They played a short set... only six songs...
Everyday Sunshine Just allow Sunless Saturday Aids & (can't spell Armegedon?) The Suffering Party at Ground Zero
The sound was a bit distorted (at least in the 2nd row), but they were their usual "as tight as a mosquito's ass." I was impressed with the new members, especially Spacey T - his guitar work was beautiful.
Most of the concert goers were still getting loaded in the parking lot. We had a few soldiers up front, and the crowd seem to enjoy da Bone, but there was just a vast wasteland of empty red plastic seats. A far cry from the fun partying crowd at a club gig.
I love Fishbone and it was great to see them... and I don't want to dissuade any soldiers from coming out... but if your a newbie - this is not a Fishbone show. Angelo barely had time to break a sweat. If your not into STP or RHCP this show will hardly seem worth it.
Jan's review was pretty much accurate. I was the other street teamer and one of the 5-6 soldiers up front while they played, and while it was fun to watch, it was sure as hell not a fishbone show. You probably know the deal....opening band on a 3 band arena tour....
My friend and I handed out all our stickers after the band played, they were gone in under 20 minutes...
Opening with stone temple pilots for the RHCP. Fishbone played first.
