Jul 08 2000 @ Central Park Summer Stage New York, NY

Wow! I didn't think I'd be the first to report on Fishbone's show in Central Park, but here goes. It's kind of silly at this point to compare this show to one of Fishbone's shows from 10 years ago, but I will say this: this was probably one of the best shows I've been to in a few years. All the elements were there, big crowd, huge pit, gorgeous weather, the mixing scents of herb and sunblock to mask the the smell of B.O. and of course, Fishbone. In spite of a marathon flight from Amsterdam and some audio problems that knocked out Angelo's theremin, they really did rise to the occasion. I don't really remember the set list although I did take some pictures. As soon as I get them developed, I'll try to send them to fishbone.net. Aside from that, it was great to meet Michael Noonan and Nico (not from France). Andy, I think I spotted you earlier with the Bad Brains shirt and the FBone sticker on your sleeve, but when I came back from the port-o-san I lost sight of you. To you and anyone else I missed, maybe next show.

P.S. Ballsiest fashion statement of the day had to be the the guy who crowd surfed wearing only an orange mini skirt, a thong, panty hose, and flats. Gotta love New York.

PPS NYCers, try to watch the channel 5 10'oclock news after the game. I spotted their camera crew on the side of the stage. At this point, any publicity is good publicity. I'll try to tape it.

What a show in Central Park! That was fun!!! It wasn't the usual marathon show they do, but it had all the elements of a great great show. I think the show was much better then the Limelight show. The large crowd was nice to see. And it seemed like all the older soldiers made it a point to attend and participate. I think they hit thier stride after about the 4th song. Aids and Arm. and...

I made it up there from Virginia at 3:30 so was very happy that the band was delayed. The Everyday Sunshine was so tight! I think it was their best song yesterday.
