Reviews
Hello to you all. I should be home sleeping after being up late after the show last night, but I found my self needing to let you know that the good reviews that we have been hearing continued here in Chicago. I got stuck late at work and didn't get to HOB until 10:15. I was not sure what size croud to expect because I really had not heard much of a buzz about Fishbone being here.(Could it be that I'm an old fart?) I brought with a good friend with me who had heard of Fishbone but had never seen them. As we walked up the stairs I was pleased to find the place comfortably full and with a good vibe in the air. The band hit the stage at 10:30 and Angelo was in the crowd by 10:35. The next 2 hours were just about as entertaing as I have ever seen Fishbone.(Fisrt show in '86 or '87). They sounded great; the new members seem to have really hit their stride. The croud was receptive, and the whole band just looked to be having fun. My friend was blown away by how tight they were and how quickly some songs went a whole new direction. "Pants" went off with 8-10 women dancing without it getting ugly. (Norwood called them the Fishbone Dancers as he explained that they had to dive off during "Wish I Had a Date". They were selling CD's that you could get autographed after the show. As I started through the line John McKnight asked me if I had heard the new CD. I told him that I was on this list, had the CD, and was getting this not only to get it signed but because the money was going to the band without some superstore getting a piece of the action. He just smiled and said thanks. The rest of the band all took time to talk to you while they signed and again my friend was blown away. Later we were talking to Norwood at the bar and he said that the CD was doing fairly well and they were hoping that the Philly request thing would help getting airpaly for "The Suffering". He also said that he was looking to lighting up the stage when they hit the RHCP tour. I would not want to be following them. All in all it was a great night.
I am a regular reader of this list but don't write much because my only access is at work. I just want to thank all of you for sharing your time, energy and love. Looking forward the CD project. When Fishbone comes your way DO NOT MISS THEM. THEY ARE BACK!!
