The October 20th Fishbone show at the Rhino room rocked. The lineup wasn't as long as I would have liked, because they got a little bit of a late start, but it went: Swim, Bonin', Pressure, Skankin', Pants (new song), Housework, When Problems arise, Behavior, Beergut, Give it up, Just Allow (sure to be a hit), Ma+Pa, Lyin' Ass Bitch, Kept Startin', Cholly, and they had to cut it off after Lemon Meringue. I got the set list from Angelo, and it looked like they were going to play Freddy's dead, Sunless Saturday, One Plain Nutt, Alcoholic, Party, Deep Inside, Sub. Fascism, and Monkey Dick (which I would have loved to hear live). It was an intimate setting. There were only about 75-100 people there. But I'm not complaining. I got to stand right in the front, and sing into the mic on almost every song. The evening had some really funny moments. This belligerently drunk girl who couldn;t have been a day older than 16 went up on stage, and swore she knew the words for Lying Ass Bitch. So they started the song (the horns rip on this one live), and when it came time for her to sing, she had no clue as to the words. Then Angelo took the mic back, and said "Come on now, honey, get down, we gotta do this shit for real now", but she stayed up there the whole song anyway, and kept trying to get the mic from Angelo and Norwood. At the break of the song Angelo said "This song dedicated to YOU because you LIED", and the whole place bust up laughing. Then he said "You no good lying, no lyrics knowing, tube top wearing, ho-bag trashy looking, BIAATCH!!" It was the funniest thing ever....that is, until Norwood urinated on the stage. It was in the middle of Cholly.... I noticed a liquid stream started down his leg out of the towel, and he had the funniest smile on his face. Then he said "Sorry ya'll, didn;t have a diaper tonight". It was an awesome show, and definitely worht the drive up from San Diego. I can't wait to hear them here downtown at Papa Jack's on the 30th.
Peace in the Middle East, ya'll,
Greg
