Day one was in Paris. during the opening act, rachid, antoine, arne and i met w/ the band for a long time. we first got to speak w/ walt, who was impressed we'd be following them along their tour and told us he would let us in in amsterdam. spacey T talked a long about his internet projects, he's got a lot more to feed into his house of conxiousness. he said that mc knight might be playing the guitar in the future. actually, it's his first instrument. soon enough, they might even add a full hornz section. He said he was ready to play some harder stuff. the new album is recorded. he talked about gwen stefani who was a bit impressed of being invited by fishbone to be on the record. others have contributed, but not directly in the studio, through tape exchange. he also talked abit of his plans for unnuted nations: live performances straight from the masters (the x show for example). he thinks it's cool for people to exchange mp3s of stuff that's not easily available, they might even do that on unuttednations
Angelo was cool as ever. i told him he was welcome to drop by the neighborhoud anytime, he did not seem to aware of how big this list was. i gave him the url to the list. he was wondering what we though about unuttednations, i told him it represented well the image of the band, but that it could turn off unaware people. i stressed once more all the positive enregy that could be fed in unuttednations through this list to help out gaston.
the show, now. the theater was the perfect size, but there could have been 200 people more to pack it. i estimate turnout at around 500. angelo started to dj a bit before the show, jazz originals and ska originals. he enven played a tune from his solo work. the gig itself was wild. they started with swim going into bonin. the crowd went crazy and stage diving never stopped for the next 90 minutes. Arne should post the setlist soon, but i remember it as a ska show. all the tunes had that ska mood. they played just allow and it all kept starting, which i found great. it was also the first time that i saw angelo play with his theramin, but it was too low in the mix. the keys were also low in the mix. all i have to say is the linup was tight. john steward didn't need any cues (that i saw). he was fast when needed (great sunless saturday).
