Review from the Nuttwork's archive

Last night I went from BLoomington,IN to CIncinnati,OH. I went to the club called Ripley's. I saw a band called Heavy Weather(from Cincy) and a band called Fishbone(from LA). THey both sounded good.THere were a lot of people there. That's about it.

Ok,alright. When I got there my friend Chris, the bass player in Heavy Weather, said that Fishbone had a 2 hr. "soundcheck/rehearsal" and the vibe was pretty tense in the band, most likely because they had a new drummer and this was only his 2nd gig and Norwood didn't seem in a good mood. I saw Norwood and Angelo checking out Heavy Weather and they seemed to like it. Angelo was playing DJ behind the sound board in between bands. And the place was pretty full but it wasn't that big of a club. I wonder what their show before that sounded like because even though the drummer was good he was still learning the songs as they were playing them! Norwood was definitely getting pissed off, probably just because of the situation they were in. I don't memorize or write down set lists but I remember these: Ugly-Cholly-Sunless Saturday-Beer Gut-Alcoholic-Fishy Wa Ska-Bonin-Party at Ground Zero-Another Generation and more!(somebody else will have to finish it) It all sounded really good considering what was going on onstage between Angelo giving the drummer cues and Norwood getting pissed off. THere were a few times where they had to restart the song after the drum entrance but hey. And it might be a possibility that Fish won't be there at all for future shows. I understand why angelo didn't Swim at all during this show. And that's about it.

peace, Brian Courtney
