I have only managed to see Fishbone twice now, but both time I have been blown away. Tonight they played in one of Vancouver's lesser clubs that usually features bands such as LA Guns, Quiet Riot, and Ratt, but the average crowd was much younger tonight and way more energetic. The place was pretty much packed with an estimate of 400-500 people.
They took the stage at midnight and played past the noise bylaw until 2:30 non stop. Most of the tunes they played were older songs off of "Reality" and the preceeding albums. They only played a few tunes off of their latest release and Unyielding Conditioning and Swim from "Monkey". It's true that Bigham is out and Spacey T is in, but I didn't see a keyboard player that some of you have been mentioning. In the posters around here, their were 6 members, but only 5 on stage tonight. Angelo was his usual self flying into the audience on numerous occasions and going nuts on his Theremin. What was really cool was some guy was going to get kicked out in the middle of "Cholly" for stage diving, and Angelo (while the rest kept playing) told the security guys not to. The crowd was so energetic that the security could not stop the stage diving and the moshing. What I found that was different about this show was that Walt did 80% of the talking between their songs. And for those of you who don't think that Walt is a good singer, he's more at the fore front now, he's an excellent singer, and he's one of the most energetic guys on stage. Even Norwood was flying around the stage. All and all it was a great show and I think that with the huge corwd that came out tonight to support them and all the people who were singing and dancing like mad that Fishbone is very far from dead. Their pure energy and musical talent makes them one of the greatest all time bands ever to perform.
It's too bad that another local Fishbone Soldier on this list, Vanessa, could not make it out tonight, however I will be extremely jelous tommorrow when she will be seeing them in the small town of Nelson. I would love to hear how that went.
The following is a list of the songs they played that I can remember:

I sure I missed some, but that's all I can remember right now. It was a great show and hopefully they will come back to Vancouver very soon (possibly with 311 or Janes Addiction).
