My fiancee and I went to this together just three days before our wedding. Nine years later we are still together and happily married and so is Fishbone, sort of. I saw Fishbone the first time at the Hollywood Paladium California in 91 and could not believe they were playing in my rinkydink hometown of Huntsville Alabama. Apparently this was the bone's first ever show in Alabama. Oddly enough, I saw Fugazi earlier that week in Huntsville also. It was as if little Huntsville had suddenly become cool. But alas, it went back to the old boring Rocket City soon after.

But as for this show, it was great! The opener if I recall was a local band called Little Big Man, who were a typical metal outfit really, uneventful. But Angelo did come out and do Sunless Saturday with those cats and that was pretty cool. What was so great about this show was that after seeing Fishbone in front of thousands at the Paladium in 91, this was a rather intimitate affair. I remember Angelo walking around pre-gig wearing suspenders and some crazy multi-colored shorts and curly toed Alladin looking boots. He was in rare form as were the rest of the guys. This club was so tiny and smoky I could hardly breathe. But Fishbone was on fire! My fiance/now wife was not very familiar with them, but after this show she was a Fishbone soldier too and she has since attended 5 more shows with me.

Awesome gig! But would I have expected less from these guys?
