This was an all-day music festival that Fishbone headlined, but I don't know the setlist and can't really "review" the show per se because I did not see Fishbone play. I played bass in one of the opening bands but could not stick around for Fishbone's set because we had another gig later that night in San Diego. I was not happy about this. It was my first time opening for Fishbone; they had been my favorite band since 1985, so this gig was a very big deal for me. To the best of my knowledge, this was their first show after releasing GAMAB, which I loved instantly and had been listening to almost nonstop since it came out. It was also their first show after Kendall quit the band, and the first I learned about Kendall leaving was talking to Norwood after soundcheck. I was devastated. I don't remember much about the show except that my bandmates and I were all in shock about Kendall leaving, and none of us was happy about having to drive all the way back to San Diego and miss Fishbone. The only upside is that we channeled our anger and frustration into our playing that night and gave what many of us considered the best performance we ever delivered.
